Alright so here is a very wordy/slapped together tutorial for how I study faces! Specifically for how I go about identifying and translating traits into less realistic versions. Hopefully my random notes make some sense, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an ask!

I used Chris Pine because I haven’t drawn him before, and I figured it would make the process more genuine.

Full resolution here!

This is the most useful thing. THANK YOU FORNAX.  You rock.

This is very handy!

Is it bad that I thought it was Chris Hemsworth when it was tiny?

Probably not. Pine is Hemsworth’s baby!

DADDY KIRK

there was actually a bit of a ‘whoooooooaaaaaaa’ moment when I was looking at the angles of his eyeballs/eyebrows because they are very similar to Chris Hemsworth’s! Same with his short/broad nose. fab casting if I do say so myself

OH JEEZ

This is so what I needed.

I just spent the past hour looking for this but everything on this is AMAZING! Seeing as I’ve been working on anatomy for the past… god, has it really been 3 years? And facial differences for the past 2 years [in between my art blocks]. This is a wonderful explanation and exploration of what makes a person’s face unique.

And a wonderful way to approach drawing fanart when the characters are played by live actors!
